Last Friday, Year 6 students experienced the power of Taiko drumming, joining the renowned Taikoz ensemble for a day of rhythm, movement and culture.
Through a series of hands-on workshops, students explored drumming, dance and vocal performance, deepening their understanding of Japanese culture while building teamwork and focus. Highlights included Onikenbai – a vigorous dance and drumming tradition from Japan’s Iwate Prefecture – along with a range of dynamic Taiko exercises that emphasised precision, rhythm and energy.
The day concluded with a vibrant performance for family and friends, as students proudly shared the sounds and spirit of Taiko.
