A Japanese picnic spread with sushi rolls, pink rice balls, colourful eggs, and sweets is arranged on a red patterned cloth—perfect for festival fun. Pastel plates, chopsticks, and decorative serviettes complete this Dolls' Festival Early Learning celebration.

Dolls’ festival fun in Early Learning

Our youngest learners have enjoyed exploring aspects of the Japanese Hinamatsuri festival.

Early Learning Language Educator Haruko Watson introduced the children to aspects of this popular Japanese event.

They carried out craft activities in the Garrawan classroom, and enjoyed the display of Hina-Ningyou dolls.

Hinamatsuri (雛祭り), also called Dolls’ Day or Girls’ Day, is a religious (Shinto) holiday in Japan, celebrated on 3 March of each year.
