This term, Year 3 students began a special creative and cultural program with Wiradjuri artist and educator Bianca Caldwell, known to students as Aunty B. A proud Wiradjuri woman from Narromine, Aunty B has been working with schools across NSW since 2017, sharing stories, symbols and traditions through art.
At IGS, Aunty B guided students through the early stages of collaborative canvas works using traditional Aboriginal techniques and contemporary materials. With a focus on connection to Country, colour and storytelling, students explored symbols, line work and dot painting to express their ideas.
This marks the beginning of a rich creative process, with final artworks to be shared soon.
