After a five-year pause, the IGS Colour Run made its triumphant return to Wentworth Oval, marking the first time since 2019 the event has taken place.
Following lunch, students began making their way to the oval, buzzing with anticipation. The sounds of Adi Toohey—the School’s resident DJ and assistant Head of Mathematics—were already setting the tone. Her music, a mix of upbeat classics and fresh tracks, filled the air and raised the energy levels well before the runners took off.
Heads of House were positioned around the course in preparation for the colourful afternoon ahead. As students took off, the event turned into a kaleidoscope of colour. House leaders and Heads of House showered runners with vibrant powders, turning each lap into a new opportunity to collect a splash of colour. There was a slide to go down, sponges tossed at teachers and a selection of House favourites played by the DJ.
Beyond the clouds of colour, the event held a deeper meaning. Students ran for two causes — the Indigenous Scholarship Fund and the Building Fund. In a proud moment for the School, the Colour Run met its fundraising target raising over $40k with Kuyal leading the way, raising the most money of all houses.
Thank you to Paul Galea Community Relations Manager for bringing this vibrant event back to life, and to all our teachers and sponsors whose support helped make the day such a success for our runners. Special thanks must go to The Zeritis Family and Zeina Tebbutt for their very generous donations, and to Professor Allan Snyder FRS and family, who extremely generously matched the total amount raised.
Anticipation is already building for the Primary School Colour Run in Term 3, 19 September.
