The Junior School settled quickly into its first morning of the year as children – both returning and new – made their way back into classrooms and learning spaces. Teachers greeted familiar faces, welcomed new students and helped children ease into the routines of a new school year. Among the many beginnings today, three groups marked significant milestones – our Preschool children starting their Early Learning journey, our Kindergarten children starting their first day in the Kindergarten Centre, and our Year 6 children commencing their final year in the Year 6 Centre.

In the Early Learning Centre, our newest Preschool children began their first morning surrounded by warm welcomes and gentle guidance. Educators supported children and families as they stepped into an environment designed for exploration, play and early social connections, helping them feel settled through calm routines and inviting spaces. This first day marked an important moment for families beginning their Junior School connection with IGS.
In the Kindergarten Centre, the morning unfolded with a sense of calm as IGS created a safe, welcoming and joyful environment for our youngest Primary School learners. Classrooms and shared spaces were carefully prepared to help children feel secure as they explored their new surroundings, met their teachers and began engaging in activities and experiences. These first steps marked the beginning of a journey filled with discovery and the early foundations of school life.
In the Year 6 Centre, children arrived with a growing awareness of the year ahead. As the senior students in the Junior School, they stepped into their new learning spaces ready to take on increased responsibility. The morning balance of reconnecting with peers, meeting teachers and settling into more structured routines signalled the beginning of their final Junior School chapter – a year that will strengthen their readiness for Middle School through leadership, collaboration and deeper learning experiences.
The first day set a positive tone for the term ahead, with children across the Junior School reconnecting and easing back into familiar rhythms. The focus now turns to meaningful learning and the everyday moments that will shape each child’s experience in the months ahead.
