A joyful celebration of music in the early years

The Term 1 Primary Music Assembly Concert was a wonderful celebration of music-making across some of our youngest students, showcasing the dedication and enthusiasm developed throughout the past term.

The K–2 Choir, conducted by Ms Byrne and accompanied by Mr Cheng, delighted the audience with two contrasting works. Their lively performance of Hobble Gobble by Australian composer Paul Stanhope brought energy and humour to the stage, complete with a challenging tongue-twister ending. This was beautifully balanced by Wind on the Hill, a reflective setting of A.A. Milne’s poetry, where students demonstrated expressive singing. Then the Junior Orchestra, conducted by Mr Glass and Ms Buggy, followed with an engaging mash-up of Make New Friends and the traditional Quartermaster’s Store, combining modern and historical elements in this instrumental performance.

Thanks is extended to Oscar Falvey, IGS’ 2026 Music Portfolio Leader, who hosted the event with confidence and professionalism, guiding the audience through the performance program.

Congratulations to all students on their incredible work, particularly those performing on stage for the very first time. Their confidence, focus and musical growth were truly impressive, and we look forward to many more performances throughout the year, including ChoralFest in Term 4.
