The Middle School assembly brought students together for a purposeful start to the term, with a range of presentations celebrating leadership, wellbeing and student voice.

Principal Shauna Colnan spoke about the importance of perseverance, encouraging students to keep going when learning feels challenging. Deputy Principal Middle School Mary Duma then addressed Years 7 to 10, outlining her vision for the academic year. She spoke about students defining their own reputation and how the little things – being polite, respecting each other and staff – form the foundation of the person they will become.
Portfolio Leaders shared updates from across the School, including Sustainability Leader Toby C who reminded students of the importance of using the Return and Earn bins and preparing for the upcoming waste audit. Students were encouraged to recognise how everyday actions contribute to a more sustainable School environment.
SRC Leader Zainab M officially launched Wellbeing Day, an initiative taking place each term in Week 5. Designed to promote balance and care during the busy rhythm of the term, Wellbeing Day aims to support student wellbeing and encourage moments of connection and reflection.
Drama Leader Anna M also addressed the assembly, inviting students to get involved in theatre sports and sharing excitement for the upcoming production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Students were encouraged to participate, whether on stage or behind the scenes, and to take advantage of the creative opportunities available in Drama.
The assembly featured a musical performance by Beverly W, who performed a piano solo of Notturno No. 4, Op. 54 composed by Edvard Grieg. Her performance added a reflective moment to the program and was warmly received by students and staff.
Students also heard from French and Japanese Exchange students who recently returned from overseas. They reflected on how their experiences had changed them and shared thoughtful advice for students considering exchange in the future.
The assembly concluded with high energy as House Leaders revealed the long awaited ArtsFest theme. After a dramatic drum roll, Through the Decades was announced to a buzzing hall of excited students and teachers.
