Year 10 students were immersed in a new collaborative learning experience that challenged them outside the usual bounds of learning, encouraging them to develop skills in new settings.
Students discovered the history and natural beauty of the island through outdoor activities, such as hiking and kayaking, and cultural site visits. They also explored creative ways of capturing the essence of the island, using digital media, visual arts, drama and music. The final product was a multimedia crime fiction story grounded in the history and geography of Tasmania. To assist their storytelling while in Tasmania, students worked alongside professionals in the fields of literature, drama and music.
“I want all of our students to have this life changing experience. I want them to travel through the beautiful island of Tasmania and come to know the place at this formative moment in their lives.”
