International Grammar School (IGS) is a secular co-educational school in Ultimo, serving Preschool to Year 12 in a multilingual environment.
We seek a visionary Head of School to advance the education of our youngest children in this unique and dynamic early learning environment.
Each day at IGS, children are immersed in the joy of learning another language. These include Mandarin, French, German, Italian and Japanese. Children also participate in a rich and vibrant music program and have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.
The Head of School will lead our team of highly skilled and passionate early learning teachers and educators to continue to nurture our students’ innate gifts in a safe and enchanting learning environment.
The Head of School will be a creative, energetic, well organised educator with a depth of experience and knowledge and understanding of current research and trends in early childhood education. They will value the partnerships we have with our parents, build professional learning opportunities for staff and continue to pioneer exciting and enriching teaching and learning experiences for young learners.
This role also presents an opportunity for the Head of School to work in close collaboration with the Principal and a team of architects to reimagine and redesign a new Early Learning Centre, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.

- A deep understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework
- Experience in leading programs for the education of young children
- Highly developed leadership and management skills
- Ability to engage effectively with children, families and colleagues
- Highly developed spoken and written communication skills
- A love of learning
Postgraduate qualifications in early childhood education, leadership, management or a relevant disciplinary field will be highly desirable.
