International Grammar School (IGS) is a vibrant, secular, coeducational school situated across five sites in Ultimo and Glebe. There are over 1,300 students from Preschool to Year 12 being educated in a unique bilingual environment.
IGS is about to embark on its 40th Anniversary in 2024, bringing an exciting opportunity for the new Director to make a vital contribution to the celebrations.
This is a senior role which will lead our Communications Team and support the overall internal and external communications of the School. The commencement date will be during Term One 2023, by negotiation.
The role calls for a highly creative and exceptionally talented communications professional, who has the capacity to design and deliver high quality communications across both traditional and digital media, and to create marketing materials for the School. Experience in preparing and executing press releases and building positive and enduring relationships with external stakeholders is a key element to the role.
The Director of Media, Communications and Marketing reports directly to the Financial Controller and has key working relationships with the Principal and School Leadership Team. They also work in close collaboration with the Director of Admissions and the Director of Advancement in support of their work.
Essential qualities and skills:
The successful applicant will:
- hold tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in communications, journalism or a related discipline. They will have outstanding written and verbal communications skills and have meticulous attention to detail.
- have the ability to creatively engage with our past, present and future parents, students and staff across the full range of media
- proactively seek out stories, and be able to meet deadlines and perform under time pressure
- possess a flair for creative design and bring successful experience in developing and executing campaigns across social media
- bring highly developed collaboration skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams that have shared objectives
Desirable experience:
- possess previous, successful experience in a similar role in an Independent School.
