Music Performance at IGS (for Year 4 2021)
All you need to know about the IGS Instrumental Program
Music Explorer- Brendan Gill
This option is suitable for:
- Students who do not wish to learn a new instrument
- Students who are unable to attend morning sessions
- These students will have the opportunity to perform with other groups in the Instrumental Program during the year.
Training Band with Sarah Travis
These sessions include small group instrumental lessons and a Training Band Ensemble rehearsal.
This option is suitable for:
- Students who wish to commence learning a band instrument
- Students who can commit to the weekly morning session EVERY Tuesday at 7.30am
- Students who can practise five times per week
- Students who can commit to performances as per the Music Events calendar published in Term 1, 2021.
Strings with Fiona Goodhew
Beginner strings
These sessions include small group lessons and a Beginner String Ensemble rehearsal. When sufficient progress is made, students will become members of Sarasate Strings.
This option is suitable for:
- Students who wish to commence learning double bass, cello, viola or violin
- Students who have learned or are currently learning piano or guitar
- Students who can commit to the weekly morning session EVERY Tuesday at 7.30am
- Students who can practise five times per week.
- Students who can commit to performances as per the Music Events calendar published in Term 1, 2021.
Continuer strings
Thursday: 7.30am to 8.30am (Paganini Players)
OR
Friday: 7.30am to 8.30am (Sarasate Strings)
(N.B. Assessment for placement in one of these ensembles is done late November 2020)
AND
Tuesday: 2.35pm to 3.35pm (String Extension activities)
This option is suitable for:
- Students who are currently having private tuition on double bass, cello, viola or violin
- Students who wish to extend their performance skills through small ensemble and chamber group rehearsals
- Students who can commit to the weekly morning rehearsal EVERY Tuesday or Thursday at 7.30am
- Students who can practise five times per week
- Students who can commit to performances as per the Music Events calendar published in Term 1, 2021.
