Year 6 Japanese incursion

Year 6 Japanese students recently deepened their understanding of Japanese culture.

In the online Samurai World Workshop, the host, based in Tokyo, spoke to students about the history of Samurai, including the spirit of Samurai.

He showed students the many different designs and explained how each design is based on an animal or insect.

“The master taught us that Samurai must respect the enemy, and taught us how to be like Samurai by showing us how to meditate ‘Mokuso’.

“We learnt four basic movements of sword handling, which ends with a bow to each other,” IGS Languages Teacher Masayo Marutani said.
