Year 11 Geography: Anya Haywood

Project topic: Floods in the Marrickville region

Anya investigated the nature and impacts that flooding has on the Marrickville region and what council strategies have been implemented to prevent flood risk.

“Areas of Marrickville have experienced frequent flash flooding events for over a decade and still, through numerous council attempts to combat the issue, remains a place affected by flooding,” she said.

“Eight residents completed a survey, all living in the town house complex
adjacent to the Cooks River. Ken Haywood aided this report with an interview complementary with flood photos.”
