Wrapping up another successful year of sport

This year has been a highly successful and enjoyable year for IGS sporting stars, with plenty of team and individual successes on the field, court, sand and in the pool.

The School wishes to congratulate Elise Brennan of Year 11, who recently won the 18 years Discus event at the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships.

“This is the highest level of competition in NSW and Elise winning is amazing!” said IGS Head of Sport and Outdoor Education Brian Downton.

IGS also recently competed in a beach volleyball competition at Manly Beach, on a very windy but sunny day. Competitors weren’t put off by the wind, as there were 58 teams entered into the competition, of which five teams represented IGS.

Congratulations to Morris Shaner and Evan Filo who achieved 3rd place in the Division 1 Men’s competition.

“There aren’t any losers, just winners and learners,” Madiba Doyle-Lambert of Year 8 said.

“It was a good day to come back and spend time at a school event again. What a great way to finish the year off,” added Zac Gomez of Year 12.

Students have also been enjoying some lovely weather for beach touch football to finish off a busy term.
