Tools for growth

Our young learners have been enjoying drama workshops aimed at encouraging social and emotional learning.

Puppets, dramatic skills and visualisation techniques are helping them gain awareness of themselves and others, along with skills in reflection and mindfulness.

The five-week series is conducted by The Drama Toolbox, an organisation providing drama incursions linked to the Australian Curriculum.

In each workshop, students become animal characters within story sequences. Stories play a vital role in the growth and development of children.

The engaging adventures of the animals help students to reflect on and articulate their emotional understanding, building skills they carry with them outside of the story and into their own lives.

The Drama Toolbox has been a regular visitor to IGS, working with a number of our Primary classes.
