Teachers step up

A number of IGS teachers recently achieved more senior accreditation.

IGS congratulates Jessica Saggers and Amanda Klahn for achieving their Proficient Teacher Accreditation in Term 4, and Thom Marchbank, Alanna Clancy and Drew Holmes for achieving their Experienced Teacher Accreditation, an 18-month process.

Gaining accreditation requires significant efficiency and additional work, according to Head of Teacher Accreditation Primary Michelle Weir.

The teachers are required to document their work, be observed and provide testimonials and evidence of various skills.

The accreditation is provided by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). At IGS, teaching staff are fortunate to be supported through the process by the expertise of Michelle Weir in the Primary School and Head of Teacher Accreditation Irina Braun in the High School.

Both Michelle and Irina hold qualifications as a Nationally Certified Teacher at Highly Accomplished Level and continue to challenge each other to improve their skills.
