The group is working together to create meaningful progress towards greater sustainability at IGS.
Students from across the school will be involved in the collection, sorting, measuring, recording and analysing of various types of waste generated in the School.
Their audit will take place outside the hall using appropriate sorting bins, gloves and other equipment, with the supervision of staff.
Head of Sustainability Carmelo Fedele said a hands-on waste audit is a memorable experience that links across Key Learning Areas with students.
A waste audit measures the quantity and types of waste generated. This can lead to strategies to increase reuse, recycling and composting and ultimately reduce waste sent to landfill.
