“The IGS community has rallied at a time when our friends in Goodooga could do with the support as they are in lockdown in a remote place.
“Internet access for their students is not like it is here and after consulting with Elders there, we felt that sending the kids items such as paints, crafts, stationery and games may help them during the lockdown period,” IGS Cultural Immersion Coordinator Lucy Sensei said.
We also thank the Chung family, who have been incredibly generous and sourced a pallet of hand sanitizer to go out to the community.
“This is incredible but also invaluable as obtaining those goods when the closest town of Lightning Ridge is 100kms away is difficult and expensive,” she said.
Special thanks also to the Chin Moody family for supporting the gift campaign by facilitating the use of Sendle, for packaging and delivery.
“A big thanks to Brittney at reception for all her help! It has been an awesome team effort and I am extremely proud and grateful to be a part of the IGS community as we send messages of support and solidarity to our friends in Goodooga.”
The gift giving follows a recent visit to Goodooga by Year 6 students as part of a cultural exchange.
