PDHPE teacher Dan gave the students some advice ahead of their races.
“Pace yourself; try going at a pace you can maintain the whole time,” he said.
Select High School students were also in attendance to help the students to the finish line.
Year 3 student Chenelle won first place in the age 8 to 9 category and said she felt “really excited, really happy”.
Chenelle, who said she loves to run, had been training in preparation for the race. Her mum told her if she came in with a “good attitude” she would be successful.
IGS parent Lai Heng Foong was supporting her daughter Alessandria, in Year 4.
“Her father is a runner and her brother who used to go to IGS is also a runner,” she said.
“She has been training, she will give her best.
“We told her it’s not about winning, it’s about giving your best and hopefully that will help her qualify.”
Ahead of the race, student Hanu said he was planning to sprint the whole way until he reached the finish line.
Congratulations to all students who gave of their best and finished the race.
