Starting a conversation about conservation

IGS congratulates the Sustainable Futures team, and all of the students and staff involved in the recent success of the “Half Cut and BraidsOn for the Rainforest event”.

Sustainable Futures partnered with organisations HalfCut and BraidsOn to raise funds for the Rainforest Trust, an organisation that helps protect rainforest land.

The organisations matched each dollar raised by IGS, totalling the following “rainforest counter” amounts:

BraidsOn campaign: $1,550 raised, matched $1 for $1, taking the total to $3,100

Half Cut campaign: $5,613 raised, matched $1 for $1, taking the total to $11,226

On the day of the event, IGS raised $1,416.35 in donations, which after being matched by Half Cut and BraidsOn, will amount to $2,832.70.

The combined $17,158.70 raised will helped protect thousands of acres of rainforest globally.

This is a remarkable effort from all who took part in the live shaving and braiding on the day of the event, as well as the fundraising efforts in the lead up to the event.

Sustainable Futures is also now officially “Top of the Canopy” for 2018 Half Cut campaigns.

An uplifting campaign lead by inspiring students who strive to make a difference in the world.
