Students met with other students from Tempe High environmental collective, as well as members of the MYRC to discuss local environmental initiatives and ideas for the future.
“The students decided to work on a small music festival with all local acts and brainstormed ideas to make it as sustainable as possible,” said Language Educator Maddison Doyle.
“Solar and Beyond” is a once a term workshop for student-led environmental initiatives.
“The experience was great because we learnt about what they do at the centre and their passion for sustainability,” said Dylan of Year 12.
“We offered ideas such as compost bins around the festival for organic waste, BYO cups and cutlery, solar powered speakers for live music and potentially a communal sustainability themed street art mural.”
If your child is interested in taking part in this activity, please visit Ms Doyle in the Languages department.
“It was great seeing some of the events and services they provide to help kids and young adults help the environment,” said Emilia of Year 9.
