Self-motivated Olivia tackles mathematical problems with ease

Congratulations to Year 7 student Olivia who recently won the bronze award at the 2019 Maths Championships.

Olivia competed online against more than 300,000 students globally.

The annual world series is designed to extend, motivate, and inspire students towards academic success.

Olivia said she entered the competition because she just wanted to keep practicing her maths outside of School.

“I really like maths and the competition had a bunch of exercises I wanted to do,” she said.

It was Olivia’s first time competing in a Maths competition.

Her teacher, Tina Liu, said Olivia is a self-motivated student who is always ready for a mathematical challenge.

“She enjoys tackling mathematical problems and seems to favour algebra and more abstract problems.”
