Preschool Gold and the Cherry Blossom Picnic

Inspired by some sweet-smelling cherry blossoms donated by educator Valerie Boisseau, the children of Preschool Gold created beautiful cherry blossom art works.

The children enjoyed the Japanese tradition called ‘Ohanami’ (cherry blossom picnic), facilitated by educator Yasuyo Sensei.

“Preschool Gold have a big “cherry blossom tree” in the classroom and every day this week the children have been enjoying a picnic under the tree with pretend sushi and treats,” Acting Deputy Director of Early Learning Michelle Tenkate said.

“As part of the cultural experience, the children learned the traditions of taking off their shoes before sitting on the mat and saying ‘itadakimasu’ before eating to show appreciation for the precious foods.”
