Inspired by an ABC Behind the News (BTN) segment “Classroom Connections”, they volunteered to connect with students in another Australian classroom by sending letters.
“Our teacher Ms Price was quick to get in touch with BTN and we were paired with Ocean Shores, a school up near Byron Bay,” Noah of Year 5 said.
“Ever since then, our class has been sending and receiving letters from Ocean Shores and learning about what it’s like going to school in a small seaside town,” Noah said. “They love hearing about our school life in the city.”
Throughout the term, friendships have deepened, allowing the students to build on their understanding of connectedness.
“Everyone has been really enjoying it and loves receiving the letters from Ocean Shores Public School,” Noah said. “This was a great experience. It has been awesome connecting with our pen pals, and we would love to do this again in the future.”
