Orlando said the aim of the initiative is to create a chain of happiness through sweets.
“I was asked to be a part of this initiative, called Bake It Forward, created by Alisha Henderson from Sweet Bakes,” Orlando said.
“It involves baking a sweet treat and passing it on to a friend, neighbour, or anyone, to make their day! I baked some of Alisha’s coconut cookies, with extra drizzled chocolate. I decided to give them to some Year 12 friends.”
Orlando said he wanted fellow students to know they were appreciated, whether or not they experienced traditional graduation ceremonies.
“They were so shocked and happy when I gave them the cookies. Their smiles made my day just as much as the cookies made theirs!”
For COVID-19 safety, Orlando wears gloves, a mask and washes his hands regularly when handling food.
