One last push for the virtual Cross Country challenge!

This weekend will see the conclusion of the IGS PDHPE Department's 1000 Point Challenge.

The PDHPE Department set the online fitness and wellness challenge with the aim of keeping the community active during the IGS Off-Campus Learning Program.

“We hope you enjoyed the range of activities available and we certainly had fun putting the challenges together!” said Head of Sport and Outdoor Education Brian Downton.

“We would like to thank all involved for your energy, enthusiasm and feedback and well done to all of you on the leaderboard,” Brian said.

Who will win the Virtual Cross Country Championship?

The Virtual Cross Country Championships will conclude on Friday Week 7, 12 June, and the whole community is encouraged to give it one last push through Week 7.

Brian said running entries are continuing to roll in from students, parents, and alumni.

“This is absolutely fantastic to see,” he said.

Bamal remains in first place, on 800kms, and they are just shy of the Queensland border.

“Baado (475kms) had a late charge and is currently passing Kempsey. Kuyal (534km) is in third place and is north of Coffs Harbour. Gura, thanks to an IGS marathon running parent, had a significant late burst this week and is nearing Byron (743km).

“For those who are sitting on 1000kms of Strava runs, remember we will accept any entry from Friday 15 May through to Friday 12 June. As long the run can be verified through a platform such as Strava, MapMyRun, Nike Run Club or Garmin Connect.

“We have been so impressed with the level of interest and energy students have put into this so let’s all get stuck in for one last push – House pride is on the line!”
