Musical reading brings Matilda to life

The IGS musical production team were thrilled to welcome the principal cast to their first table reading this week.

Musical Producer Nikolas Glass said the script reading brought Matilda to life for the first time at IGS.

“Principal cast members, all very talented students in their own right, read through the script with a great deal of enthusiasm,” Mr Glass said.

“It was inspiring to witness students across the age spectrum engage with their characters in such an animated way. The cohesive and collaborative atmosphere also demonstrated how quickly our principal cast members gelled. This sets the tone for what will be a very ambitious production with over 130 cast members.”

“This week we hope students will gain a thorough understanding of the storyline, explore interactions between characters and get to know the personalities of characters,” Musical Director Peter Adam said.

Principals will meet with directors over the coming term to learn their songs and lines. Full cast rehearsals will commence in Term 4 with the show scheduled to open in Term 2, 2021 pending health advice.

Online rehearsal materials will become available to the entire cast before the end of Term 3.

Students wishing to join the chorus and ensemble cast of Matilda are encouraged to email for further information.
