Students have been busy this term raising funds for Serendip Strings, a not-for-profit organisation for Sri Lankan children experiencing hardship. It provides string instruments and lessons in a friendly and nurturing space.
At the assembly, Primary Music Leaders Leni Belunek and Robbie Muir announced that together, the Primary School have raised more than $1,730 for the organisation.
IGS will continue to raise funds until the end of term, and hopes to raise more than $2,000 for Serendip Strings and to encourage our students to consider why it is important to support opportunities for children in other parts of the world.

Serendip Strings shared a thank you video message to IGS for its support.
IGS congratulates all of the passionate young musicians who have taken part, Leni and Robbie for showing excellent leadership, and Head of Primary Music Michele Ellis for building this thoughtful initiative.
The assembly also featured string quartet performances and an insight into which band instruments are available to for IGS students to learn from Years 4 to 6.
