Music in the air at IGS

Parents, caregivers and friends of the community enjoyed hearing from an array of talented performers at the third IGS Music Ensemble Concert for 2018.

Music Ensemble Concert program:

Senior Orchestra

  • Children of Sanchez by Chuck Mangione, Arr Bob Phillips and Jerry Dennison. This is an arrangement of music written by jazz musician Chuck Mangione for the 1978 film Children of Sanchez.
  • The Magnificent Seven by Elmer Bernstein. The theme from The Magnificent Seven was inspired by composer Aaron Copland, and was a personal favorite of Bernstein.

Senior Vocal Ensemble

  • Capella arrangement After a While by Tony Backhouse, inspired by the 1963 recording by the Duncanaires of the gospel number written by Elmer Sheffield
  • Aba Voi Dila (traditional Georgian song). The lyrics mean “my heart is chained to your heart”.

Symphonic Winds

  • Darklands Legends by Randal D. Standridge. The Symphony is comprised of 5 movements, collected into three works.
