Miah adds her magic

IGS is delighted to welcome alumna Miah Walker (2020) back to IGS as a part time member of staff to mentor Indigenous students and help share news about Indigenous education and activities for all IGS students.

The former IGS Indigenous scholar is working part time with Head of Indigenous Education and Stage 6 Aboriginal Studies Teacher Jade Carr and the IGS communications team as Academic Mentor in Indigenous Education.

“Miah will be an inspiring and helpful mentor to Indigenous students, who, through regular contact, will assist them in their studies and the motivation to learn,” said Acting Director of Human Resources Mark McCrossin.

“This position will also provide support to the School’s Indigenous programs and events and assist the communications team in capturing stories around the campus celebrating Indigenous heritage.”

Miah said she was excited to be able to support younger generations and help them get through school.

Jade and the communications team are thrilled to welcome Miah, as a former student and a local community member, to support our future pathways in Indigenous education.
