Making masks for front line workers

IGS Art and Design Teacher Ksenija has been making face masks out of quilts and pillowcases in her spare time, to help those fighting COVID-19 on the front line.

Ksenija felt inspired to help her sister, who works as a nurse.

“Since I have been working both from home and school, I have been making them at home and at school, depending on the day,” she said.

“I have made about 20 since the weekend, and I will continue to make one or two a day at least, whenever I get a moment really.”

Ksenija said the initiative makes her feel useful in a situation like this.

“It takes my mind off things, helps my sister, and helps people that work with her feel more protected, as well as appreciated by the community for what they are doing for us.”
