Make music!

Applications are invited for the Heads of Independent Co-Educational Schools (HICES) Music Festival, open to students in Years 7 to 12 who are dedicated and passionate ensemble musicians, both choristers and instrumentalists.

The festival, involving more than 400 musicians from around NSW will take place from 19 to 22 August, and include a residential camp at Stanwell Tops and an evening performance at the Sydney Town Hall.

Students will be working with exceptional conductors and musicians in a Concert Band, String Orchestra, Symphonic Winds, Symphony Orchestra, Vocal Ensemble and Honour Choir.

Accommodation, food, master classes, ensemble playing and performance, music theory, history and improvisation are included for the approximate cost of $520.

New to the festival this year is the World Music Academy, which will welcome students not usually included in the standard concert band or orchestral groups. Their instruments will include accordion, guitar, sitar, hand drum, fiddles and recorders, for example.

Applications close on Wednesday 28 March. Click here to apply, or contact the IGS Music department more information.
