Their day started in the classroom, where they dropped off their backpacks and explored their new learning spaces for the year.
Later, the children attended their first Primary School Assembly, where they were taught the School Song, and heard from Head Boy Parker Floris and Head Girl Astrid McKinley, who gave them a very warm IGS welcome.
Uncle Les welcomed the children to Gadigal Land and marked the start of the school year with a traditional smoking ceremony.
Kindergarten Blue Teacher Christie said her children had a happy day.
“In assembly, one of the Kindergarten Blue students stood up to applaud a music performance,” she said.
Kindergarten Gold Teacher Sarah said the children enjoyed listening to stories and getting to know one another through games.
Kindergarten Green Teacher Alex said her class loved wearing their first-day crowns and pretending they were kings and queens.
The children shared what they were looking forward to most about Kindergarten this year:
Ruby: Playing in the playground
Solana: Making friends
Nicola: Getting my Canteen order
Attis: Playing sport
Lucas: Doing creative things
Zelda: Learning languages
