The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a global youth development program, empowering young Australians aged 14 to 24 to explore their full potential regardless of their location or circumstance.
The Award program is one of individual challenge. It presents young people with a program of voluntary activities that encourage personal discovery and growth, self-reliance, perseverance, responsibility, and service to the community. A number of IGS students have powered through to earn Gold Awards over the years.
Although the pandemic has had a considerable impact on students’ ability to take part in this program, IGS students have shown exceptional levels of determination and continued to log their hours.
“To support students and parents, we have created a portal to act as a brief overview for each award and also a place for the important links that can explain the requirements of the award in more detail” said Assistant Head of Sport and Outdoor Education Ryan Vose.
“Over the coming months we will add important dates and guides to the page to help further support the students in completing the award.”
