IGS warmly welcomes Dr Felicity Plunkett as academic and poet in residence

IGS is delighted to welcome poet and critic Dr Felicity Plunkett as our academic and poet in residence, running masterclasses for the students throughout the year.

Dr Plunkett will work closely with Principal Shauna Colnan, Acting Head of English Derek Patulny and English Extension 2 HSC senior marker and English teacher Thom Marchbank of the IGS English Faculty, supervising students taking on major works in 2020 for English Extension 2, the 4th unit of English.

Dr Plunkett is a poet and critic. Her latest poetry collection A Kinder Sea is forthcoming with UQP in February, 2020. Her debut collection Vanishing Point (UQP, 2009) won the Arts Queensland Thomas Shapcott Prize and was short-listed for several other awards.

Her poems and short stories have been widely anthologised and have won or been shortlisted for numerous Australian and international awards.

Dr Plunkett has a PhD from Sydney University. She has worked as an academic for 12 years, during which time she was awarded an Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of New England.

She was Chief Examiner of English Extension 1 and 2 in NSW for five years, and now works extensively with teachers and students.
