“Wow, you guys must be great readers,” Tristan said when hearing of all the books our students are currently reading.
Tristan said much of his inspiration comes from his childhood memories.
“I always want my stories to feel like my childhood,” he said.
“I want them to be crazy and funny, and I love all kinds of storytelling.”
Tristan is best-known for his Tom Weekly novels, as well as The Fall and Two Wolves, and IGS students were eager to have their new copies of Tristan’s books signed by the author himself.
Tristan’s books also feature stories from other young writers, because he enjoys “giving kids the chance to have their work published”.
Tristan’s top tips for our students:
- Read as much as you can.
- Write something every day. Let your thoughts out onto the page.
- Be kind to yourself.
- Find yourself in the story.
- Rewrite, rewrite and rewrite again.
A former actor and TV presenter, Tristan offered an engaging, humorous and motivating presentation for our students.
