IGS students shine in the sports arena

The holiday period saw a number of IGS students achieve to a high level in their respective sports.

Director of PDHPE Brian Downton said it is fantastic to see students continuing to pursue their passion outside of school and achieve to a high level.

Andreja Despotovic and Nina Leeper represented the Sydney Emeralds and NSW Synchro at the New Zealand National Championships for Artistic Swimming (formerly known as synchronised swimming) in Dunedin, New Zealand.

“Andreja and Nina competed in the Junior Technical Duet and the Junior Free Duet and achieved silver medals in both events. Earlier in the year they achieved a bronze medal in the Technical Duet and a fourth place in the Free Duet at the  Australian Nationals,” Mr Downton said.

“Year 9 student Christian Grasso is congratulated on his involvement in the U15 NSW State team that competed in the Nationals in Canberra. He was a key player through the tournament and played superbly. NSW defeated Queensland in the final (3-0) and in doing so won the National Champions.”

Well done to all students on these amazing personal and team achievements.
