IGS learning opportunities in high definition

Digital Innovation (DI) High club members recently made their way to the Expanded Perception and Interaction (EPI) Centre at UNSW, engaging in an array of interactive programs.

The Centre undertakes visualisation research in the fields of art, design, science, medicine and engineering.

“The students got to experience data, art and historic site archiving in a 360 degree surround of seamless, high-definition panels in 3D,” said IGS Director of ICT and Digital Innovation Graham Clarkson.

“They also experienced the effects of motion tracking, combined with the awesome power of photogrammetry.”

Students then witnessed digital storytelling and scientific modelling beneath a 360 degree projection dome, followed by a tour of the Creative Robotics Lab facilities where they encountered social robotics in action.

“It was an unforgettable day for all!” Mr Clarkson said.
