“We wanted to come up with a fun idea to celebrate the Soccer World Cup at the School,” Amelia said.
“We thought it would be fun to organise teams of Year 5 and 6 students into their Language groups for the soccer teams,” Mitchell added.
Language teams competed against one another, speaking to their teammates and directing the play in their studied language.
“Everyone had so much fun kicking the ball around and using their language skills in a different environment,” Amelia said.
The IGS event was timely given the global coverage of the original Soccer World Cup. The creative initiative from the students proved to be a success, with IGS teachers joining in on the fun.
“It was great for all of the students, even those who hadn’t been following the Soccer World Cup,” Mitchell said.
