IGS embraces B Kinder wellbeing resources

IGS Year 3 students are featuring in a new video promoting B Kinder Day.

The School welcomed Fly High Billie founder Danny Mayson-Kinder and a film crew to raise awareness of Be Kinder Day, set up in memory of Danny’s daughter, Billie, who died tragically at the age of 12 two years ago.

Danny has also created hope wellbeing workbooks featuring Billie’s artworks and poetry, because she noticed that many wellbeing resources dwelt on shocking and depressing facts and messages.

In contrast, hope shares positive messages about kindness, families and empathy and encourages students to communicate using greeting cards and letters and to share time with others.

IGS Head of Stage 2 David Engelbert said there was a good vibe in the classroom when students had been working through the hope workbook.

“The kids share stories about their lives,” David said. “It’s raising awareness of being nice to people and being good human beings.”
