HSC Music Trials impress

Congratulations to HSC Music Showcase students whose performances were live streamed for their families earlier this week.

IGS Deputy Principal Academic Operations Lisa Kelliher described the performances as “extraordinary, dynamic, toe tapping and fabulous”.

Director of Music Alison Housley said in the lead up to the HSC practical examinations, Year 12 musicians presented their performance programs at the Music Showcase.

“The event highlighted the incredible devotion and musicality of the Music 1 and 2 students who each exhibited their works with personal style, expression and technical facility,” she said.

“Students performed a variety of contrasting repertoire, most playing or singing four works, bringing together the culmination of many months of preparation and refinement. It is so wonderful to see the work of these students come to fruition.

“In these Covid-19 times, it was heart-warming to witness the camaraderie between students, in the absence of the usual support team of families and friends, who gave warm encouragement to their peers. Families were ‘zoomed in’ to enjoy the occasion from home. Music staff, particularly HSC teachers Fiona Goodhew, Nik Glass and Brendan Gill are sincerely thanked for their care and mentorship of the students.”
