High School students make a splash at Swimming Carnival

The IGS High School Swimming Carnival at the Ryde Aquatic Centre was another success.

The event was particularly special for Year 12 students, who experienced their final races and cheers in this annual event.

PDHPE Teacher Lawrance Hunting said it was an incredible day for both staff and students, and a fantastic chance for IGS to show off some of its best swimming talents.

“Out of the pool, students and staff alike came together to create a day of spirited performances and an exciting environment. From marshalling to ribbon giving and record breaking, the day was ably led by veteran announcer Lucy Sensai as she contributed to the smooth running of events and an energetic atmosphere,” Lawrance said.

“As well as the strong announcing were the chants coming from the stands that were decorated in our House colours of yellow, green, blue and red.

“Inside of the pool, student athletes Remi, Andreja, Robert, Nina and Ben gave standout performances, but the highlight of the day was seeing the staff relay team dominate the student relay team in yet another victory at the annual carnival.

“Thank you to everyone who participated, gave their all and screamed their house war cries!”

A massive congratulations to all students who participated and cheered their peers on!
