Grace said working in “short chunks” and making sure she was engaged and taking subjects she enjoyed were among the secrets of her success.
“I’m feeling pretty relieved,” she said, on HSC release day. “I put the hard work in and got what I put in, which I’m happy about.”
Grace was named in the NESA Distinguished Achievers’ list for her Band 6 results in Aboriginal Studies and Visual Arts.
Her HSC subjects included Aboriginal Studies, Visual Arts, Geography, English Advanced and Legal Studies.
Grace plans to take a gap year and hopes to travel around Australia. Afterward, she is looking forward to studying Anthropology and Sociology at university.
“I really like political geography and cultures and how people interact.
I want to go to uni to expand my knowledge from there I will gage where I want to go,” she said.
Grace also hopes to continue her passion for art in some way.
Her advice for the next cohort of Year 12 students is to figure out how they study best and stick to it.
“Know when to push yourself and when to take breaks. It’s important to find a balance.”
Grace thanked her mentors, including IGS teachers Stephen Pace, Carmelo Fedele, Jade Carr and Sandra Veljanovski.
