Good deeds go a long way

Last week Mrs Phillips of Year 1 Gold set her students a daily challenge of thanking someone in the community.

IGS parent Hayley Dean had planned to donate groceries to the families and medical staff in the RPA NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) that day, and she brought her son Patrick along with her.

Pat, from the IGS Canteen, kindly helped Hayley source the bulk quantity of groceries.

“I reached out to Pat in the canteen and she, like always, was very happy to help me,” Hayley said.

“Through her suppliers, I was able to purchase enough milk, bread, fruit, frozen meals, drinks and snacks to feed the 30 families currently in RPA NICU  and the doctors, nurses and admin staff who tirelessly work there.”

Hayley said Patrick was able to complete the daily challenge by personally thanking NICU Head Doctor Dr Mark Greenhaigh.

“Patrick said thank you for looking after his baby brother, who spent over seven weeks in RPA after his birth.”
