Girls tackle real-world problems

A group of Year 9 girls visited the local branch of Arcadis, a multi-disciplinary global built environment company recently where they participated in activities involving teamwork, creative thinking and innovation with girls from across Sydney.

Science Teacher Stuart said the program was aimed at encouraging young women to pursue career opportunities in construction.

IGS students were partnered with students from other schools, where they were given real-world scenario problems relating to the built environment to solve.

“The highlight was the level of enthusiasm shown by the studets and the company professionals who gave up their time to provide mentoring experiences. The take away from the event was the number of questions our students asked afterwards.”
