French speaking practice a smart plan

Senior IGS French students attended study sessions in the holidays to prepare for their HSC speaking examinations.

The Year 12 students and accelerated Year 11 students explored the challenge from a range of angles.

They watched their teachers Teresa and Juliette undertake a mock speaking test, then took on the role of examiners, for example.

Eliza of Year 12 said she was glad to take part “to advance my French speaking skills in preparation for the trials and the following HSC examinations”.

“It’s great they have come during their holidays, to give the really best chance at their exams,” said teacher Juliet Bates.

“We were very pleased to see such a healthy turn out of students despite the last days of the holidays,” said fellow teacher Teresa Alonso-Lasheras.

The speaking test is one of the first HSC examinations to be held each year. Students will be interviewed in French for 10 minutes.
