Year 12 students enjoyed additional activities in their final week of School.
They included a pizza lunch, a livestreamed formal assembly, an informal assembly, a Hawaiian shirt day, pyjama day, games, House farewells and many moments of best wishes for their future from fellow students and staff.
At the formal assembly, Head of House Ksenija Doic urged her Year 12 Baado House members to “go and be every single thing you always wanted to be and do not let anything stand in your way. Go and be the best version of yourself”.
Head of House Katie Salisbury said: “You are bold, you are brave, you are resilient and you are unique.”
Head of House Stephan Pace said: “I hope you know you are an important part of many people’s lives… It’s been a pleasure working with every single one of you.”
“You beautiful kids will always have a place here at IGS, and in our hearts,” said Head of House Bamal Thom Marchbank.
Class of 2020 student Zara Upfold spoke of strength, positivity and friendship at the formal assembly. She thanked inspirational Principal Shauna Colnan for her “imminent and tactful approach to leadership” that shaped the culture of the School.
“Your compassion has bled through all of us, leading to widespread acceptance, and resulting social cohesion.
Personally, what I respect about you most of all is your innate and impenitent curiosity. Which permeated during one speech that you delivered about the beauty of a murmuration of starlings.
“I vicariously experienced wonder, as you showed everyone a video of little birds cinematically flying over a field,
as perfect as a constellation. I do not recall blinking once. Thank you for embodying my life-long definition of ‘great leadership.’”
