Exploring creativity in Textiles

IGS Year 10 Textiles students have begun work on a duffle bag project.

Students are designing their bags using a digitally printed lining.

In Week 6, students cut the outer shells of their bags.

“The bags are made of heavier fabric on the outside, sewn from multiple pieces,” Textiles and Design Teacher Ksenija Doic said.

“The lining of it is digitally designed in Illustrator, then sent to an outside company to print, then back to us to cut and finish the bag.”

Ksenija said students took inspiration from a range of places, including botanicals, architecture and high end fashion brands.

“They love the unit and the project. They are super keen, and they are most excited about finishing their bags,” she said.
