Tess will be joined by our very own PDHPE Teacher Caitlin Cockburn, who has been named Head Coach of the team.
“I am very excited to work with Ms Cockburn as she is a very talented volleyball player and has some amazing coaching skills and ideas to grow the team and hopefully achieve a second win,” Tess said.
This is the third year in a row that Tess has been selected for the team.
“It’s exciting having been nominated and selected for the third time, as I have had the privilege of overseeing the CIS team grow and flourish,” Tess said.
“One of the main reasons I have such a large interest in volleyball is because of its unique nature, the simplicity of the game opens it up for anyone to play and will never fail to entertain.
“There is always something you can improve on or learn about the game, and continue to advance in the sport.”
IGS wishes Tess and Ms Cockburn well in the upcoming tournament.
Meanwhile, Year 10 Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) students have recently been discovering and loving “cardio tennis”.
Cardio tennis is a high energy activity, which combines cardiovascular exercise with tennis to provide a high intensity workout. It elevates the heart rate into the aerobic training zone and is similar to interval training methods.
Students have been thoroughly enjoying the new PDHPE program, which encourages them to get out in the fresh air for exercise, and have some fun.
