Career insights

IGS Years 10 and 12 students attended the Sydney CBD Schools Careers Convention at Sydney Grammar School earlier this week.

“It was a very successful event in every way, offering a wealth of information across the three components of expo, lectures and professional career advice,” said IGS Head of Library Services and Careers Adviser Glynis Martin.

Each year the Convention is organised by the careers advisers of IGS, Sydney Grammar School, St Andrews and SCEGGS Darlinghurst.

“One of the lectures was presented by Mrs Brenda Ring from our Science department explaining the extensive variety of careers available through studying Science and STEAM subjects in High School.”

An enormous amount of positive feedback is being received from students and parents.

Ethan of Year 10: “I collected lots of information about Engineering, Medicine and Law and I know I will need to study extension maths.”

Ruby of Year 12: “The personal experiences of the application process explained by students accepted into Harvard and Cambridge for 2018 was really helpful.”

Jess of Year 12: “The University Admissions Centre (UAC) talk explained the process of applying for university which will make it easier for me when the applications open in August.”
